Agumbe, Karnataka, India (with photos)

Agumbe is a place in Shivamogga District almost bordering the Udupi District in the Indian state of Karnataka. This beautiful scenic place is in the heart of the Malnad region or the western ghats. Agumbe receives the second highest rainfall in India only after Cherrapunji, hence its called the Cherrapunji of the South.

From the state capital Bengaluru its around 370 km

* Sunset point : On a clear day one can see the sea setting down the Arabic sea even though the sea is quite far from this sunset point.

The very famous TV serial which used to come in Doordarsan during 1985 "Malgudi Days", was filmed here for many episodes.
