Orissa / Odisha, India

Odisha is a state in the eastern part of India. The eastern part of the state is covered by Bay of Bengal & the other 3 sides is covered by different Indian states. Kalinga is the ancient name of Odisha/Orissa, which was ruled by the Kalinga Emperor Kharavela during the 3rd century BCE. Later it was defeated by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka the Great.

Odisha Tourism:
Orissa's famous ancient Temples, Lakes, Dams, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Water Falls, Beaches, Buddhist & Jain pilgrimage centers all combined makes the state a hot Tourist destination.  The state has ancient temples like the Sun Temple at Konark, Lingaraj Temple at Bhubaneshwar, Jagannath Temple at Puri. Its also home to the world's longest Dam, the Hirakud Dam which runs for 26 km in length, Chilka Lake, world's second largest lagoon.
