Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA

Yellowstone National Park, the world's first National Park was established in 1872, located in the state of Wyoming in the United States. Majority of the park is in the state of Wyoming, but the north entrance is in Montana & the west entrance is in the state of Idaho. It has the world's largest collection of Geysers, the most famous one being the Old Faith Geyser. Yellowstone National Park is a wonderland with vast population of wildlife, geothermal features, waterfalls, lakes, hence it attracts a lot of tourists every year from all around the world. Yellowstone National Park was declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The National Park is in the shape of number 8, every corner of the 8 has a different category of places. Starting from south west corner, which has a concentration of geysers, the most popular one being the Old Faithful Geyser is located here. Going next to the north west, where the Mammoth Hot Springs is located, here you find the calcium deposits, hot springs, the wild life, especially the elks. Proceeding further, the north east has the beautiful valley, the Lamar Valley where you see a herd of bison. A little down to the east, is the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, which has beautiful waterfalls (Upper & Lower Falls). And then the other end, the south east side, there is the big Yellowstone Lake which has a lot of water sports activities. A little further down is another Geyser Basin called the West Thumb, which again has a small collection of geysers.

Now here are the plans which I could think of based on your time availability. A 2 day, 3 day, 4 day or more plans. 2 day would be very tight, you would be able to cover only the major attractions, 3 days is just enough to cover major & other most of the attractions, 4 days is good & more than that is just your leisure.

Grand Prismatic Spring

There are 5 major entrances to the Park, one each from West, North, North East, East & South. The ideal case is to stay inside the national park, but you would need to do the reservation much much earlier may be 8-12 months before. Other options to stay are the West Yellow Stone, Idaho near the west entrance OR Gardiner, Montana near the North Entrance OR Cody, WY in the East OR Jackson, WY to the South.
