San Francisco, the second most densely populated city in the United States, is the fourth largest city in the state of California after Los Angeles, San Diego & San Jose. This Fog City, though founded in 1776, got importance & rapid growth during the California Gold Rush in the 1850s, there was a lot of immigrant population moving to this city during this time from all over the world.

Today the city is know for the technology startup companies & due to the presence of the large number of technology companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, Intel, Cisco, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tesla, ... the entire area surrounded by the bay, comprising of San Mateo, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Jose, Milpitas, Fremont, Union City, Hayward, Oakland, Berkeley is often referred to as the Silicon Valley.

How to reach San Francisco:

The city is well connected by roads with all the major highways. Interstate 80 begins here & US Route 101 passes thru San Francisco.

The San Francisco Municipal Railway, know as Muni has light rail, subway & large bus network. Other public transportation in and around the SF Bay Area is the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) & Caltrain. Amtrak is generally used for the inter city transportation.

San Francisco has 3 international airports in about 50 mile radius, with the San Francisco International Airport having direct flight connectivity to all major cities around the world.

Pier 35 serves as the port for Cruise Ships mostly to Alaska & Mexico. The port of Oakland serves as the Cargo Shipping port.
