Lower Antelope Canyon, Arizona, USA

Lower Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the United States in the state of Arizona. This magnificent colorful slot canyon is located in the Navajo Native American Territory. Lower Antelope is one of the two canyons of Antelope Canyon located near Page, Arizona. The other one is Upper Antelope Canyon. From last few years the Antelope Canyons have been attracting a lot of tourists. Its a popular destination for photographers.

This beautiful canyon is said to have formed by the erosion of sandstone primarily due to the flash flooding of rain water & the air flow thru the canyons. This has been happening over hundreds & thousands of years making the walls of the canyon artistically designed to looks like flowing shape.

How to Visit Lower Antelope Canyon:
There are few licensed private tour companies that offer tours for tourists. As of now to visit the Lower Antelope Canyon, its only thru these licensed private tour companies. There is a fee of $8 for the Navajo Permit & mostly $20 for the tour company's guided tours.
Ken's Tour & Dixie Ellis are two tour companies that I know of.

Some points to note:
* The ideal time to visit Lower Antelope Canyon to get a good view of the Canyon is between 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, an hour early or later during summer is also good, but beyond that, the Canyon might get dark and may not be worth visiting.
* While entering & exiting, the stairs are pretty steep & some places the canyon is narrow, so not advisable for senior citizens who may find it difficult. I would recommend Upper Antelope Canyon for them.
* Babies or Infants are ok if you can use the baby carrier, so that your hands are free to hold the stair case while getting down or climbing the stairs.
* Let the tour guide set your camera setting, so that you get good pictures & you don't waste your time in adjusting your camera setting
